Best Guitar Picks for Beginners
In this lesson, we’re going to get picky about our picks!
What Kind of Guitar Pick/Plectrum Should You Use?
There are so many kinds, and to help you figure it all out, I’ve broken it down. I want to help you find the best guitar picks for beginners!
There are 3 main variables when it comes to choosing a guitar pick:
- Thickness
- Size/shape
- Material (tone, durability, feel)
When you’re first getting started, I recommend a thinner pick, standard size/shape, made of nylon, cellulose or delrin.
If you’re not sure exactly what to get. These variety packs have pretty much everything in them. You can try a whole bunch of picks, for a very affordable price. (Purchase through Amazon: USA / Canada.)
A small portion of purchases made using the above links goes toward helping to support the GoodGuitarist YouTube Channel. I appreciate your support!
If you want to play some leads, I recommend the same pick I use. Dunlop Tortex .88mm (the green ones). I like the powdery feel, they’re thick enough to have control when playing leads and thin enough to get a nice, bright strumming sound.
