You might be worried that it’s going to be hard, or that it’s too late to start, or that you won’t have enough time. I don’t buy that. I think you can start learning any instrument at any age. Especially now that there are countless resources online that can help you. Maybe you’re not sure what instrument to learn. Well, you can look at the drum and guitar expert reviews by CGuide and decide which you would prefer to play then. How you’re not sure where to go to learn guitar. That’s where this site comes in. Yes, learning to play an instrument can be difficult at times, but what one person sees as “difficult” another may see as “challenging”. And it’s definitely not too late to start; imagine yourself 10 years from now, thinking back “man, I wish I started playing 10 years ago!” The truth is, learning guitar is super-duper fun, and 99% of the time you’ll be driven to play and practice more. You’ll find yourself making time for it, looking forward to it. Once you get past a few of the beginning hurdles you’ll see for yourself that the challenges you come across will force you to grow. It might be that you need to learn to focus more and follow through with it, you might one day be afraid to get on stage in front of a whole bunch of people. These experiences will make you a better person. If you start to play guitar, and keep it up, you’ll look back and wonder how you lived your life without it!

In this lesson, we’re going to outline a plan that will get you from absolute zero-ability beginner to strumming along with a variety of 3-chord songs IN JUST 4 DAYS. We’ll go over the basics of chords and strumming, working on memorizing the shapes and building a sense of rhythm. We’re not only going to learn the techniques but actually learn how to use them on real songs. We’ll also tell you exactly what you need to practice each day to help you get into the habit of working on guitar and your overall musicianship.[/fusion_text][fusion_separator style_type=”shadow” top_margin=”” bottom_margin=”20″ sep_color=”” border_size=”” icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”center” class=”” id=””/][fusion_text]

Day 1

The first thing we’re going to take a look at are these two chords that will help us play our first song together, D and G. These two videos show you exactly what you need to do to play each of these chords, and test them out to make sure you’re doing it right. As long as you take your time and remember to test your chords out by plucking each string, you’ll do wonderfully. Be sure to place your fingers close to the fret, apply enough pressure, point your thumb upright and arch those fingers! If you need extra help you can always download our eBook (free to our newsletter subscribers) which goes over all of this and a lot more. REMEMBER: You’re not going to sound amazing on your first day playing guitar. Really good players have practiced the most basic things hundreds (thousands) of times to perfect them, and you’ll keep revisiting these chords time and again in virtually any style or difficulty of music – you’ll have plenty of time to get them perfect, but for now as long as you give it your best shot you’re putting yourself on the path to success.

The last thing we’re going to do on Day 1 is learn to play a song. (Wha? ALREADY! — Yup!) This is why you wanted to play in the first place, right? You didn’t just want to learn random chords and call it a day, did you? You may not think you’re ready, but if you can switch between those 2 chords, even if it doesn’t sound perfect, you can play a song.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_youtube id=”9CAu9UfdhBI” width=”600″ height=”350″ autoplay=”no” api_params=”” class=””/][fusion_text] If you were able to play along with the strumming pattern, I’m actually kind of amazed. I wouldn’t ever expect a student to do that on their first day. As long as you practiced switching between the chords using downstrokes only (the first half of the video) you are 100% on track![/fusion_text][fusion_separator style_type=”shadow” top_margin=”” bottom_margin=”20″ sep_color=”” border_size=”” icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”center” class=”” id=””/][fusion_text]

Day 1 – What To Practice

  • 5 minutes – Playing the D chord, making sure every string rings out clearly
  • 5 minutes – Playing the G chord, making sure every string rings out clearly
  • 10 minutes – Switching from D to G, slowly at first, and eventually playing along with the video (above)
  • 10 minutes – Playing “What I Got” using downstrokes only

30 minutes total![/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
