Taylor Swift - Love Story
Love Story Guitar Tutorial
Welcome to my Love Story Guitar Tutorial by Taylor Swift. We’re going to learn how to play it without a capo, and usually that means we’d need some barre chords, but I’m going to show you a neat chord shape that Taylor uses to allow us to play this song without any barre shapes.
“Love Story” Sheet Music TAB no longer available due to copyright issues, but I have something even better!

FULL PLAY-THROUGH (entire song, start to finish) available on my Patreon page:

So, 3 basic chords on guitar, and… the B chord, which is supposed to be a Bm barre chord, but we’re going to pull it off in a much easier way!
Once we go over some switching tips, we practice strumming the chords in order. After that it’s time to learn the strumming pattern!
This song uses 2 strumming patterns, but they’re both SUPER simple. We practice them both before putting them together with the chords and playing through the verse. Here’s a link to the “most common pattern ever” if you need extra help with it.
After that, it’s just a matter of learning each section: Pre-chorus, Chorus and Bridge. They all use the same 4 chords, but in a different order, so it’s pretty simple.
At the very end of the song, you might notice a “lift” in the overall sound… this is due to a “key change.” To play the key change, we need 4 new chord shapes: E, Asus2, B* and C#*. I show you a trick that makes 3 of those chords REALLY easy.
That’s it! I hope you enjoy the lesson!
