James Testani is the founder of GoodGuitarist, where he helps everyday people learn guitar through simple, structured, and encouraging lessons.
With a background in music education, James focuses on real progress—teaching full songs and building confidence. His YouTube channel (580K+ subscribers, nearly 1M views/month) features clear, song-based tutorials, and his step-by-step courses take students from beginner to confident player. Off-camera, he enjoys family time and playing in his wife’s band, Willolux.
Meet Dave Gate – June’s Student of the Month
Based in Bristol, England, Dave’s guitar journey is a story of perseverance, passion, and rediscovery. Originally from Scotland, Dave picked up his first guitar as a punk-loving teenager, but life took him in other directions. Years later, while working night shifts at an airport, he stumbled upon GoodGuitarist lessons on YouTube.
Despite facing physical challenges like arthritis, Dave fully reignited his love for guitar in early 2023. His dedication, creativity, and curiosity shine through everything he does, from learning new songs to experimenting with alternate tunings. What started as daily morning strumming has grown into a serious commitment, complete with plans to perform at open mics and even write his own songs.
Dave’s story is proof that it’s never too late to pursue your passion for music.
