Beginner Guitar Lesson: Learn How to Play “Eleanor Rigby”

To play Eleanor Rigby, we’ll need to learn the Cmaj7 chord, which is a two-finger chord shape commonly used in jazz. To begin, place your ring finger on the third fret of the A string and your middle finger on the second fret of the D string, as shown in the diagram during the tutorial.

How to learn new chord shapes properly

Whenever you learn a new chord shape, make sure to practice it slowly, isolating each finger and checking to ensure that both fingers are placed properly on the fretboard.

Once you’ve mastered the chord shapes, it’s time to start playing the song.
