Hey everybody! In today’s lesson, I’m going to show you how to play “Someone Like You” by Adele. This is one of my favorite recent pop songs and I decided that rather than show you how to strum through the song I would share with you my personal arrangement for a fingerstyle rendition of this one.

Having trouble with the basics? You’ll want to check out my Beginner Guitar Course! More information here: https://goodguitarist.com/beginner-guitar-course/

And there’s my FREE eBOOK (which is free for all subscribers!) – You can use it to help you build a solid foundation: chords, switching, progressions, riffs, techniques… everything it takes to be a “good guitarist.” You can find it here: https://goodguitarist.com/learn-rhythm-guitar/ (You’ll also find my Lead eBook there, too!)

I like the simplicity of it; there aren’t too many difficult parts. The actual finger-picking pattern is very easy and I think this emulates the piano that you’d find on the original recording quite accurately. The chord shapes are different, for sure, but are all very easy, using just 2 or 3 notes in each.

I made a few compromises and simplified some parts just because the fingerings are a little advanced but overall you’ll find that this arrangement of the song is quite rich for how little effort you have to put into it to actually get it to sound right.

Enjoy!
-James
