Tips For Making The B Minor Guitar Chord Easy

  1. Curl your fingers as much as possible. The D and B strings won’t ring out unless you do!
  2. Mute the thickest string by placing your middle finger a bit higher than usual, so it rests under the string
  3. Get your fingers as close to the frets as possible

To speed up the process, I recommend doing some quick & easy warmup exercises that’ll help build up your strength and reach. To help with that, here’s a page with some great guitar warm up exercises for beginners (and beyond!)

Switching Between Bm and Other Basic Guitar Chords

You should start with Bm to E. In that switch, you can leave your middle finger down and pivot from it, going back and forth between each shape. There are two steps to making any switch comfortable:

  1. Silent switching – just make each shape, without strumming
  2. The chord switching game – I teach this in my free eBook and my beginner course. It’s my biggest guitar “hack” (I don’t use those clickbait words lightly… it really helps more than anything).

Easy Songs Containing The Bm Chord

The best way to find songs that contain Bm, mixed in with other shapes is through the song finder, here on my website. Simply check the box for “Bm barre chord” and there you go! (Obviously you’ll replace the Bm barre with this easy shape)
