Hey everyone! In today’s lesson I’m going to show you all how to play “Shallow” from the movie “A Star Is Born,” as performed by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. This song is primarily fingerpicked (or flatpicked/hybrid-picked if you prefer to use a pick). It uses quite a few chord shapes, and the patterns are changing throughout the song, so that might provide you with a bit of a challenge, otherwise it’s not too difficult.

For each section, we go over the chord shapes and necessary fingerpicking or strumming patterns. There are quite a few chords in this song, and the fingerings vary: Em7, D/F#, G, C, Cadd9, Dsus2, Am, Am/G, Bm, D, A… yeah… that’s quite a few shapes. But if you work out the transitions, and take this song section-by-section, it shouldn’t be too tough 🙂
